Why use props in photography?

May 21st, 2007

With todays technology making photo taking affordable for most people props can make your business stand out AND grow.  We work with many professional photographers and some tell us that it is hard to stay competitive with all the small “want to be photographers” popping up all over the country. This is what I have found.  As with any business you have to invest in the “tools of the trade”.  Cameras, lighting, backdrops and props. The first three are obvious but many forget to add props. Even something simple like a weird looking chair or something from an antique shop. Old road signs add class to any serior portrait session. Posing blocks, steps, a simple ladder can be great for families. For kids, sit them in or beside a bowl with some flour on their face and some cooking tools scattered around the bowl or in their small hands. Awesome! Props WILL set you apart in this competitive market and will help you grow your business.

I wish you the best!

New Bath Tub Prop really making a spash!

April 27th, 2007

Hi,

I would like to introduce our Bath Tub Prop.

Bath Tub Prop Image

By now you have seen other prop companies small bath tub props. Our new Bath Tub Prop is made in Minnesota!! Not a cheap import! It will comfortably fit one or two infants. Kids up to 4 or 5 years old can also be photographed in it. We manufature the tub with a plastic that will withstand many years of hard use. It is also light weight and will not chip or crack. Cleaning can be done with soap and water or laquer thinner without damage. We know how props can be thrown around and buried under backdrops and other props. This tub is build to last and built to use.

New High Key White Vinyl Backdrops

April 27th, 2007

Howdy!

We have had many people ask for a backdrop that withstand heavy use for in studio and on location photography. We have the answer for you. High Key White Vinyl, take a look! This material is extremly durable and cleans up with soap and water. I personally have even used Laquer Thinner on this vinyl to clean up some marks and it was not damaged. We have had many concerned about the sheen. The testing we have done and reports from the field have all came back with great results. It is a Matt finish and is currently available in 2 sizes; 98 inches wide by 12 feet long and 98 inches wide by 24 feet long. Rolls ship on a 2 inch core.
We are always looking for new product ideas. If you have one please let us know.

New Auction Site for Photographers

March 20th, 2007

Take a look at the new PropSwapShop.com. Finally an auction website just for photographers. Buy, sell, trade and post classified ads. You can even open your own storefront.
I know most photography studios have old backdrops, props, film cameras, and other equipment that is sitting in a back room collecting dust. PropSwapShop.com is a great place to sell this old stuff.
If you are just getting started in photography and have a limited budget. PropSwapShop.com is a website that can help you get what you looking for at a reasonable price.

Stop by and take a look.

Thanks,

What’s happening at PhotographyProps.com

November 9th, 2006

Hello again. It has been a while since I last wrote. First of all, Stephanie and I have a new baby girl, Kendra. She was born on October 14th. Her and mom are doing well.

September started out with a shocker to the photography industry as Off the Wall Productions went out of business. We will miss OTW and wish Larry and his staff the best. I would like everyone to know that we are set up to manufacture most their sets if you had your eye on one, had one ordered and was canceled, or are looking to add a high class set to your studio. We will be introducing new sets in 2007 to take over where they left off.

We will be having a booth at the next Senior Photographers International tradeshow in January. We will have a couple of our new sets to show off for all to take a look at.

Fall is fast approching.

August 15th, 2006

It doesn’t take long for the days to start getting shorter. Fall is coming fast. Out here the soybeans are turning yellow and the corn is starting to lose it bright green color too. PhotographyProps.com is located in a rural area with a rich farm heritage. Also great for nature and scenic photography with many trees, rivers and lakes. I was raised on a farm and enjoy the harvest. My father got the Combine out of the shed today and is getting it ready for bean harvest. Looks like it should be a good crop. Enjoy this summer and get out and take some outdoor photos. Oh, you can post them here. We always like to see your work.
